On March 30th , 1957, five volunteers delivered the Articles of Incorporation for the James City Rescue Squad. Those articles were signed into effect and the certificate was ordered on May 7th of that year. Those five members served as the first board of directors and they formed a corporation whose purpose was “to serve as a county and community rescue squad providing free emergency services, including ambulance and first aid service and any other emergency services the corporation is or may be equipped to render”. That was almost 60 years ago, and although may things have changed within the county and the organization, our mission remains much the same.
